FAQ
Frequently asked questions
Can foreign parents receive Parental Benefit in the Czech Republic?
Yes. Foreign nationals may qualify for Czech Parental Benefit, depending on their residence status and individual circumstances. EU coordination rules may also apply where the family has links to another EU country.
How much is the Parental Benefit?
For one child born from 1 January 2024, the total amount is CZK 350,000. Different rules apply to children born before 2024 and to multiple births.
How long can I receive the benefit?
For children born from 1 January 2024, the benefit must generally be used by the child's 3rd birthday.
Can I receive Parental Benefit if I am working or self-employed?
Yes. Parental Benefit is not income-tested, and you may continue working or running your business while receiving it, provided the childcare conditions are met.
How much can I receive per month?
The monthly amount depends on your individual circumstances and may be influenced by the daily assessment base of either parent.
Can I apply if my child was born outside the Czech Republic?
Potentially, yes. A child being born abroad does not automatically exclude you from receiving the benefit. Your residence situation, the child's residence and whether your family receives a comparable benefit abroad may need to be assessed.
Can I apply retrospectively?
Yes. Parental Benefit can generally be claimed for up to 3 months retrospectively, subject to eligibility during that period.
Do I need to deal with the Czech authorities myself?
No. We can handle the entire process on your behalf, including document review, application preparation and submission, obtaining supporting documentation and communication with the relevant authorities.
Can you also handle future changes after my benefit is approved?
Yes. We can assist with subsequent updates, including changes to your residence permit validity, address or monthly benefit amount, as well as annual updates.
How do I know whether I qualify?
We will review your individual situation before proceeding with the application.
