Are you looking to employ a foreign national but are unsure of the procedure?
While EU-Citizens and their family members do not need a Visa or Work Permit in the Czech Republic, an employer is obligated to register an EU Citizen at the labor office.
Every EU-Citizen or family member must have a temporary residence permit if the purpose of the stay is for employment. Officially, the application for temporary residence permit should be submitted within 90 days upon arrival to the Czech Republic.
Non-EU Nationals
In order to hire a Non-EU National in the Czech Republic, the employer needs to first report the position in the central register of job vacancies to competent Labor office.
As soon as the reported position is released by the Labor office to foreign applicants, the foreign candidate can apply for a visa for a stay of over 90 days for the purpose of employment.
If the appropriate visa is granted, the foreigner must register with the Czech foreign police within 3 days upon her/his arrival to the Czech Republic to collect biometrics in order to issue the Employee Card.
Please note that the entire process to hire a non EU national usually takes between 5 to 6 months to complete.
